Continuous data extraction

Hospital Information Systems contain enormous amounts of data such as administrative data, pharmacy data, lab, claims, medical and ambulatory records. This data is ingested on a real-time basis into a ‘data store’. From there, LynxCare data/text mining and AI algorithms continuously extract the data needed for the compliance, quality reporting & research needs.

Clinical data points are stored in an OMOP clinical database. The algorithm is trained on specific data points to extract these accurately from the source records. The data point list is generated from scientific publications containing most elements that are of relevance for COVID-19 risk and population insights. The hospital stays in control of their own data. A data processing agreement is put in place before the start of a hospital implementation.

Automated coding of source data (SNOMED) allows key indicators in clinical records to be transparently visualized through the cloud in management dashboards for hospitals and government agencies if agreed. Through these intuitive dashboards the viewer gets quick and objective insights into the quality of the care provided.

The LynxCare data extraction is accurate and peer-reviewed. The findings of a peer-reviewed validation study performed at ZOL Genk hospital, were published in The Journal of Arthroplasty, validating the LynxCare technology: “The use of an automated, AI-supported search algorithm for EMRs provided continuous feedback on the quality of care with a performance level comparable to manual data extraction, but with greater speed. Furthermore, the study concluded that AI accuracy was 95.0%, compared to 94.5% for manual review.”

Eventually, this automated data extraction, allows for an increase of clinical time of more than 5%. This means medical staff gain more time needed for example for consultations or surgeries, which can lead to increased hospital revenue. Also, data processing costs plummet 66%. At the same time, our technology indirectly helps hospitals comply with data quality standards and helps establish more and improved trials and research collaborations.

Management cockpit

With our LynxCare Data Platform we want to provide hospitals with a ‘Management cockpit’ to visualize and benchmark COVID-19 insights, also to compare and evaluate between hospitals on an international scale. By offering this solution we enable healthcare centers to build up ‘clinical registries’ and allow them to uncover risk factors.
